Sherry Parsons has been a trustee on the school board for a long time and has seen others come and go. Recently, Parsons has been consistently in the minority on many issues, along with Tom Hendrix. The two regularly challenge the district's performance results and probe district representatives for answers at board meetings. When voting for Wayne Workman's annual review (and huge pay increase), Cowee, Farr, McIntyre, Vilines, and Peterson all voted as a group to provide a glowing review. Parsons and Hendrix, seeing the falling school performance data, rejected the review and raise. School performance has fallen consistently over recent years (compared with the rest Nevada) and is getting worse and worse. Sherry Parsons has been attempting to challenge this downward path, but the five that vote as a block always outvote her.
The Nevada Appeal quoted Parsons as saying: "This contract is insane, which means I think you have to be insane,” Parsons said. “If the test scores went down again and we decided we did not want the superintendent, this contract is set up so that he would get over $700,000 in severance pay. … That’s what the average person would say. You were not thinking of our children when you were making this contract.”

Very little is known about Shanna Schroeder. There appears to be no campaign website and she was a no-show at a recent candidates night in Dayton. It appears as if she might not actually be running, but her name is still on the ballot listing.
